Alain

Alain is definitely one of my favorite characters in this series, but still unfortunately his role is not a big one, but still I think he is part of an important relationship with Oscar, not only because he is actually André’s best friend.

When it comes to this man, it’s difficult to actually explain the relationship, at least at the beginning he has with his commanding officer. Ok, it’s easy, from his part is hate and from Oscar’s part is the fact that she ignores him, but to show to her new soldiers she isn’t just a female, but a kick ass female, she definitely kicks his ass gaining some respect, but not a lot, she actually gains his respect when he sees how she fights for her men even if they did really something wrong she tries to protect him.

After his sister dies, she committed suicide, and Oscar shows worry, he slowly begins to fall in love with the untouchable woman.

Towards the end, before Oscar dies, they can be even called best friends in a way, because he finally managed to read her and knows, he is besides her when André dies, and he is there when she dies… in his arms.

He is the one who carries the legacy of Oscar in the future, because he appears as character also in the sequel that Ikeda wrote, the one dedicated to Napoleon, where Alain is soldier in the imperial army!
