Movie
After the stage success, in 1978, Jacques Demy (director) decided to make a movie from it. The limit of this movie is that twenty years of history are put all together in one hour of it.
The second bad choice is the cast – the actress that plays Oscar, for example, is really to feminine. Another thing is that the directors and writers don’t concentrate on the emotions and feelings of the characters, transforming the tragedy in a comedy. Marie Antoinette is shown as a frivolous and banal person, Oscar doesn’t even has a personality. The only one that is in a way similar to her counterpart in the manga is Rosalie, who is sensible and cries easily.
